I actually tried that for Moon who is a bit OCD-didn't see any real difference, so we went back to working a little harder when he gets antsy. A tired dog is a happy dog.
My co-worker has her cat on a tiny dose of Prozac, to keep her from pissing all over the house. She tells me, "I can't believe I'm one of THOSE PEOPLE who has their cat on Prozac". But ya know what? It works. Go figure.
As with most things in life, I'm a big believer in that old adage of 'Don't knock it till you've tried it'. Of course, I have knocked it without trying it, haven't I? I think there's a loophole for cartoonists in that old adage.

Sounds good for fireworks anxiety
reconcile='to cause to submit to or accept something unpleasant'
that says it all for me.
That's life; always a side effect, downside, trade off.
