Viva hate
Isn't it great that the first Charles Schulz comic strip ever published has within it the angry seed for everything this daily-strip would become over the next fifty years. It's really just a big fuck-you to the world (and himself). Tres punk.
I found this of course on page one of The Complete Peanuts 1950-52, a present I got from Richard today (thank you, Rich). I am always struck when I read some of the less-fluffy Schulz by just how dark and dysthymic his vision of human relations was/is. My little pills wouldn't exist without him.

It's always amazed me that, as good as Peanuts was over the years, the single best strip he ever ran was the very first one. And I always thought that it could only be improved by the inclusion of the word "tosser". Bravo!
i'll have to borrow it when you're done
good old charlie brown. however, had schultz included the term "tosser" we americans would likely have been confused. so i guess things happen the way they're supposed to.
I like that saying
"She's my best friend and I hate her!"
The doctor is IN Psychiatric help 5 cents.
Ah, Charles Schultz....
i love how when you wrote on my blog that you needed to get (the fuck) on with it. fuck is perhaps my favorite word. i really think i love you. did you accomplish anything today?
I accomplished a whole bunch of things, thank you Ms Frute.
I quite like the f-word myself.
Resonant.
O' praise to the inevitable and enviable Shultz.
Out of the 18,000 or so strips he did in his lifetime, there was a lot of crap and so-what-age. But when he was in the zone, he was FUCKING WELL IN THE ZONE!
